About the piece

The first Enjoy work was a red one and made for a christmas exhibition. Andersson wanted to create something christmasy. When she first came up with the idea of the Enjoy sculptures, she was standing in the sculpture studio at The Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm and was looking over at Slussen. In the studio there was a special kind of silicone, the one you use for breast implants. There was also a bottle with red pigment. And then there was this Coca Cola sign over at a building at Slussen. It hit Andersson that all of these parts fit so well together (Coca Cola holds a special meaning to those born in the 80s who spent most of their time demonstrating and boycotting things).

About the artist

Rebecka Bebben Andersson (b. 1984) graduated with an MFA (Master of Fine Arts) from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm in 2014. During some of that time she also studied for three years at The Royal Institute of Technology. When doing her MFA at the Royal Institute of Art, she did an exchange term at VŠUP in Prague, in the studio for textile art. In addition to this, Andersson has studied opera scenography at Operahögskolan/STDH.

“— But now I have finished school”

During the last couple of years Andersson has worked a lot with issues such as power structures in the public sphere, unsafety and violence against women. But of course she also works with other themes as well in order not to be completely depressed.
