About the piece

These Shoes Were Made For Fucking is one of three illustrations by visual communicator Liza Forslund where she by the aid of digital illustration explores beauty and female beauty standards. Is the world of beauty solely ruled by the patriarchy where female interests are downgraded or can it be a way of manifesting and reclaiming our own femininity? By willingly wearing garments or accessories that mainly is used in situations where females are dominated by men, women can reclaim the power and use sexual garments as a weapon rather than another way of being degraded. It is a way of taking back. Your sexuality is yours and not for others to abuse or judge.

About the artist

Liza Forslund (b. 1993) is an artist who lives in Stockholm. Forslund is to be a BA (Bachelor) graduate in Visual Communication at Beckmans College of Design in the spring of 2017. She has a background in classical painting, attending the art school Pernbys Målarskola in 2012- 13 and has since then levitated towards illustration and later Graphic Design and Art Direction. Forslund feels that the way of creating within all three fields are very similar since it’s all about communicating a feeling and a message by visual communication. Women’s discourses are something that inspires Forslund and she tries to include that in all of her work whether it is an illustration or art directing a photoshoot.
