Ivar Lövheim (b. 1983) is from Skellefteå but is currently based in Gothenburg. He is attending the 5-year BFA+MFA (Bachelor of Fine Art, Master of Fine Art) program at the Royal institute of art in Stockholm, going back and forth between the studio in Gothenburg and the school in Stockholm. Lövheim is seeking flow and velocity in his painting practice and wants to be able to work without obstacles between thought and action. Looking for a technique that could accomplish that – he found the air brush. This tool has the same properties as the pencil when it comes to creating a flow and it doesn’t run out, as an ordinary brush does, so you can cover large areas of painting before you need to refill. This facilitates a total focus on the painting process.
